Docyment generates formatted UK clinic letters from your clinical findings in under 30 seconds. This guide walks you through the four steps from registration to your first finished letter: create an account, add a patient, choose a template, and generate.
No technical setup. No training period. Most clinicians produce their first letter within five minutes of signing up.
Step 1 — How Do You Register for Docyment?
Registration takes under a minute. You need an email address or a Google account. There is no credit card required, no setup call, and no approval process.
- Go to docyment.com and click Try free.
- At the login screen, select Sign Up.
- Register using your Google account or enter your name, email, and password.

- Check your inbox for the confirmation email and click the link to activate.
- On your first login, select your specialty and language — this helps the AI match letter conventions for your clinical area.
- You land on the Dashboard, ready to add patients.

Step 2 — How Do You Add a Patient?
Adding a patient requires only a first name and last name. Date of birth and contact information are optional. Patients persist across sessions, so you only add them once.
- From the Patients Dashboard, click Add Patient (top right). Or from the Main Dashboard, click the + in the patient panel.
- Enter at least the First Name and Last Name.

- Optionally add Date of Birth or Contact Information.
- Click Create Patient — the patient is saved and auto-selected.
- Use the patient menu to edit details or archive a patient at any time.

Step 3 — How Do Templates Work in Docyment?
Templates define the structure of your clinic letters — headings, sections, sign-off format. You can use Docyment's pre-built templates for common specialties or create your own. The AI generates the letter content within whatever structure the template defines.
- Go to the Templates Dashboard.
- Choose from two options:
- Template Library — pre-built templates organised by specialty (urology, psychiatry, cardiology, general surgery, and more).
- Create Template — build your own from scratch.

- In the library, click a template to preview it. Press Add to My Templates to use it.

- To create your own: click Create Template, enter a name, add your preferred structure, and use the AI Assistant to generate a draft template from a description. Edit as needed, then Save.

Step 4 — How Do You Generate Your First Letter?
This is where the time saving happens. You select a patient, choose a template, enter your clinical findings, and press one button. A formatted UK clinic letter appears in under 30 seconds.
- From the Main Dashboard, select your Patient.
- For returning patients, Docyment automatically references past letters for context.
- Choose a Template (clinic letter, operative note, report, or your custom format).

- Add your clinical findings using one of four input modes:
- Dictate — speak your findings directly into the template
- Record — capture the full consultation in the background
- Write — type or paste existing notes
- Scan — photograph or upload handwritten notes, referral letters, or discharge summaries

- Press Process Letter. The AI generates a structured clinic letter in under 30 seconds.
- Review your draft in Text View (editable) or Formatted Preview. Edits save automatically.
- Click Next Patient to reset and continue your clinic.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long does it take to set up Docyment?
Most clinicians register, add their first patient, and generate their first letter within five minutes. There is no software installation, no IT department involvement, and no training period required.
Is Docyment free to try?
Yes. The free tier includes 20 letters per month, 100 patients, and 10 templates. No credit card is required. This is enough to evaluate the tool across several clinic sessions before deciding whether to upgrade.
What specialties does Docyment support?
Docyment works for any specialty because the clinician controls the input and the template. Pre-built templates are available for urology, psychiatry, cardiology, general surgery, orthopaedics, and more. You can also create custom templates for any letter format.
Do I need to record my consultations?
No. Recording is one of four input modes, not a requirement. Most clinicians use Dictate (speak findings after the consultation), Write (type bullet points), or Scan (photograph handwritten notes). You choose whichever suits your workflow.
